Collect

God, who as at this time

taught the hearts of your faithful people

by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit:

grant us by the same Spirit

to have a right judgement in all things

and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort;

through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

Post Communion

Faithful God,

who fulfilled the promises of Easter

by sending us your Holy Spirit

and opening to every race and nation

the way of life eternal:

open our lips by your Spirit,

that every tongue may tell of your glory;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our new curate will be arriving soon

At Petertide we will be welcoming our new curate to St. Faith’s church, Gaywood. Her name is Laura Purnell and she will start her curacy with us on July 1st after her ordination at Norwich Cathedral. Laura is married to Martin and so we very much look forward to welcoming them both to our church family very soon. We would like to organise a ‘Welcome Hamper’ for Laura and Martin to welcome them to their new home in Gaywood. Contributions of ‘goodies’ can be left at the office or handed to the Stewards or Wardens.

URGENT FOR TODAY.  The Ordination Service for new Deacons in the Norwich Diocese will take place on Saturday June 30th at 10.30am at Norwich Cathedral. Do come along to support Laura and Martin and to welcome them. The Cathedral needs to know how many people plan to attend the service. Please sign the list today or let the Office know on Wednesday May 23rd.

If you would like to come to the service but need help with transport, then please sign the transport list at the back of the church. Please sign if you are going by car and will have empty seats and can offer lifts or if you would like a lift. We will not be organising a coach.

Remembrance Day

Would anyone in the congregation like to knit poppies to decorate the church for Remembrance Day? It is 100 years since the end of the First World War, and our poppies are very old and tatty, so some new ones would be a fitting tribute to all who lost their lives. Please see me if you are interested.                      Carol Dexter

Easter Offering Appeal for World Methodist Mission.

On behalf of our Methodist Circuit, I would like to say thank you very much for your Easter Offering totalling £65. It is organised each year by Methodist Women in Britain and is the only appeal for this Fund, so is extremely important to our Churches world-wide. Having been shown round the Meru University by The Reverend Peter Ensor and heard of the great way Methodist Ministers are trained in Kenya, I realise how important this appeal is to our partner Churches across the World.  The Easter Offering from the churches was dedicated at a special service at London Road Methodist on Wednesday May 16th.Thank you again for your support.                             Helen Maguire

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a prayer initiative in which the Church of England is working in partnership with the Methodist Church in which we are invited to pray for more people to come to know the transformational love of Jesus Christ. At St. Faith’s we are holding a day of prayer on Saturday May 26th from 8.30am-8.30pm. There will be prayer stations through the day for individual devotions and led prayers in various styles beginning at 8.30am with Morning Prayer, then at 10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm concluding with Compline at 8pm. Do come and pray. There will be a table of Prayer Shawls.

We Need Your Help - Please see Julie or Ian Swinton to give 1 hour.

We all lead busy lives, but please spare 1 hourto help make our forthcoming events a success.

Firstly, Thy Kingdom Come Day of Prayer in church on Saturday  May 26th between 8.30am and 8.30pm. We need people to offer 1 hour to sit in church and welcome visitors to St Faith’s. You will not be expected to do anything except be there and smile politely.

Secondly, Celebrate King's Lynnin the Walks by the railway crossing in Tennyson Avenue on Saturday June 9th. We need people to come and spend 1 hour supervising an activity - either Hook-a-duck, Ping Pong Bowls, or make a bead bracelet between 10am and 4 pm. Alternatively, if you are feeling brave, why not join the team sharing the Good News with the people of Lynn and telling them how wonderful we are at St Faith’s.

Finally, please donate any packs of Haribo mini sweets or small 'pocket-sized' gifts e.g. erasers, pencils etc. that can be given out at Celebrate. The event is free and we cannot charge for any prizes, but last year we gave out 450 packs of sweets to children. So please start collecting, your donations are really important. There will be a box at the back of church for any donations.

Thank you so much for helping at either of the events. We cannot run them without you and the hour of time you give is vital and much appreciated.
